The future of Bridgerton is officially taking shape.
Multiple outlets including Teen Vogue, Deadline, and Marie Claire report that showrunner Jess Brownell has confirmed Seasons 5 and 6 will center on Eloise Bridgerton and Francesca Bridgerton.
At a recent event, Brownell subtly signaled the news by wearing a pocket square embroidered with the letters “E” and “F.” The detail quickly sparked speculation, later supported by media reporting confirming that both sisters will headline the next two seasons. However, Brownell did not reveal which sister will lead Season 5 and which will follow in Season 6.
Season 5 Will Not Combine the Sisters’ Storylines
Speculation about a combined season intensified after Season 4 shifted the chronology of the original novels. However, Brownell addressed this directly in an interview with Teen Vogue, stating that she has no plans to combine sibling love stories. She emphasized that each Bridgerton sibling is intended to receive their own dedicated season, an approach that aligns with Shonda Rhimes’ long-term vision for the series.
This means Eloise and Francesca will not share a central romance arc. Each sister will lead her own season.
Season 5 Production Timeline
Marie Claire reports that production on Season 5 is expected to begin in March 2026. Brownell has also confirmed that the production team is actively working to shorten the roughly two-year gap between seasons.
If that timeline holds, audiences may receive confirmation about the Season 5 lead sooner than expected.
What This Means for the Adaptation
While the order of Seasons 5 and 6 remains unannounced, there are structural reasons to consider how the books may influence the decision.
Francesca’s novel features a significant time jump that is central to the emotional weight of her story. From an adaptation standpoint, allowing more narrative space between her current arc and her main romance could strengthen its impact. That makes it plausible that her story could be Season 6, with Eloise leading Season 5.
Until Netflix confirms the order, however, that remains speculation.
For now, what is confirmed is clear: Eloise and Francesca are next, and each will receive her own standalone season.
