Off Campus Season 2 shifts the focus to Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes, continuing the adaptation of The Score that Season 1 already started. Their casual relationship becomes increasingly serious, but the show has added one major complication that does not exist in the book: Hunter Davenport.

Charlie Evans is expected back as Hunter. In The Score, Hunter is a younger teammate Dean mentors through private practices. The show instead introduced him as “Carter,” had him sleep with Allie and established that he has history with Dean’s sister Summer, which fans suspect explains Dean’s hatred. Showrunner Louisa Levy has said the series plans to build toward Dean and Hunter’s mentor relationship from the books.

Season 1 also established that Hunter knew Summer before Briar, a book detail that could be explored much more in the show. Shay Rudolph now joins as Summer, potentially planting seeds from The Chase. In that story, Hunter develops feelings for Summer while Summer wants his roommate Fitzy, who she ultimately ends up with. Fitzy has not been cast, but The Score is where Summer first meets him, making Season 2 a natural place to introduce him.

Plenty of major Dean and Allie material remains. Sean discovers their secret relationship and confronts Allie while drunk, verbally attacking her over sleeping with Dean. That confrontation helps push Dean and Allie toward finally defining what they are.

Allie’s family could also become a major part of Season 2. Gil Bellows was reportedly spotted filming with Mika Abdalla and is believed to be playing Joe Hayes, though that remains unconfirmed. In the book, Joe spent more than 20 years as a hockey scout and lives with MS, which affects his mobility. Allie frequently puts his needs before her own, complicating decisions about her acting future. Joe also spends much of the book deeply skeptical of Dean and their relationship.

Dean’s past gets messy when former high school coach Frank O’Shea becomes Briar’s new defensive coordinator. O’Shea still resents Dean over his daughter Miranda and assigns him to Briar’s community outreach program as an assistant coach for the middle-school Hastings Hurricanes. Dean initially hates the assignment but eventually realizes he genuinely loves coaching.

The Miranda storyline is much darker, and some fans have questioned whether the adaptation will include all of it. In The Score, Miranda stops taking her depression medication after she and Dean break up and threatens suicide. O’Shea blames Dean and later punches him. Miranda eventually tells Dean that her depression existed before their relationship and acknowledges trying to guilt him into staying with her. In the book this storyline explains why Dean is afraid of commitment.

Then comes Beau Maxwell’s death. His father swerves to avoid a deer, hits black ice and crashes into a tree, killing Beau on impact. Dean spirals into drinking and drugs, skips Beau’s memorial and stops coaching the Hurricanes. He later takes MDMA and misses Allie’s opening night, contributing to their breakup and his hockey suspension.

Grace Ivers also arrives, with Antonio Cipriano teasing The Mistake material for Grace and Logan, possibly including part of their water-tower scene.

Lastly, book readers should expect surprises. With all five Off Campus books and four Briar U books optioned, the show has room to introduce characters earlier and remix parts of the timeline. That makes Season 2 especially interesting for readers who already know where these stories eventually go.
