Fourth Wing TV Series Reportedly Casts Violet and Xaden

Prime Video’s highly anticipated television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’s bestselling fantasy romance Fourth Wing has reportedly found its two leads.

According to Deadline, citing sources close to production, Esther McGregor (We Were Liars) has been cast as Violet Sorrengail, while German actor Emilio Sakraya (Warrior Nun) will portray Xaden Riorson. Amazon MGM Studios has not publicly confirmed the casting.

Based on the first novel in Yarros’s Empyrean series, Fourth Wing follows Violet, a 20-year-old aspiring scribe whose plans are upended when her mother forces her to enter Basgiath War College. There, Violet must survive the brutal training required to become a dragon rider while navigating her complicated relationship with Xaden, the powerful wingleader of Fourth Wing.

Interestingly, Sakraya was already a popular fancast for Xaden long before Deadline’s report. Speculation surrounding his potential involvement intensified in early 2025 after he shared a workout post featuring a dragon emoji.

The adaptation received an official series order from Prime Video in May 2026, following years of development. Meredith Averill, known for The Haunting of Hill House, is serving as showrunner, while Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy is directing the pilot episode.

Michael B. Jordan is executive producing through his Outlier Society production company, alongside author Rebecca Yarros.

Although Deadline’s report marks a significant development for the adaptation, Prime Video has yet to announce a premiere date or publicly confirm its leading cast.
